The LBL Blog
Laurence's every day message: Every day you get up in the morning be in gratitude for the life you have been given and the invitation to the life you want to live.
Say to yourself that you feel safe and protected from anything Life may throw in the way of your life path. This will help you to feel more healthier and comfortable with your Life Labels.
We must all try to be aware that Autism is not the problem, but just another label and that if it was not for autistic individuals we probably would not be so far ahead with our technological advances.
Friday 27 May 2011During the morning my interest of the day was working on the necessary items that I had laid out in my time management plan for the day so the morning I got done everything that needed to be done.
I had been looking forward to beginning the afternoon at the Autism One taking my flyers away from the table that had them on display and be put on my own exhibit table where I would be amongst the other vendors at the conference. fortuitously there were no tables available for me to talk to all the people who had come to the conference. If you are wondering why I sad fortuitously, this is because during the day I thought that I was not ready to exhibit at the conference. Had I done so I would have made plans to have the correct advertising material and that would have meant some quick thinking and expense at Kinko's.
But a welcome surprise was in store for me. As I wandered around the conference I realised that not every vendor were the right people for me to speak to and by listening to what their speciality was and what they were advocating I could choose carefully who I chose to speak to or not.
In particular it was a neuro-scientist who I found the most synergy with, both he and I shared similar aspirations, had similar thoughts about the treatment of Autism and related disorders and in particular how important and beneficial it was for every one of us who may have an idea for a remedy for what nature may throw in front of our life journey to get together and collectively find a solution rather than squabble amongst ourselves because we selfishly believe the ideas we have are unique to us and we spend most of our time advocating how wonderful it is and how rewarding it would be to those who make use of but to the benefit of our pocket.
What is perhaps more important or relevant is that it is not about each of us with our own unique ideas working alone but more about working collaboratively with our ideas to bring about a more harmonious and fulfilled world.
During my walk around carefully choosing those people i wanted to talk to I met Jeremy Cadillac President of I-ORA
His interest is showing how technology can better learn to interface with people . At the conference he was showing two robots who were learning about Autism so the robots could connect more easily with those individuals with Autism. For any further info about his product please visit
http://i-ora.com/
One of the organisations Jeremy suggested I talk to were Generation Rescue who are amongst the largest of the autism organisations in the US for more information please visit www.generationrescue.org.
Other interesting people I met were Connie Williams M. Ed Speech- Language Pathologist whose company & 7 Rays Education make use of Hands on Healing as a remedy for children on the Autism Spectrum.
One of the last people I was to speak with was Dawn Mc Farland PSY D LLC we had a very interesting talk about Autism, remedies and solutions. She got me to spin a fortune wheel to win a prize and a prize I did win, although I am certain she gave a final helping hand as the arrow landed on Book'.
This book which when I have time I will read or rather find the time to read between my hectic life style. The book is about an inspirational story of one family's struggle with Autism. It is called sacred Spark and it's author is Rev. Lisa K. Sykes. You can find more information about the book at www.sacredsparkbook.com
During the afternoon I was in for a surprising little shock a vendor whom I thought was out of place but in fact had a very unique and neat idea, if it didn't suit those on the spectrum and I would be surprised if it didn't it would certainly entertain the women.
It was utilising the methodology of Hyperbarics. I was sitting in front of a bar with around 8 glass bottles giving out a different aroma. I was surrounded by several women doing the same. Each of these bottles had a label attached. Each bottle also had a tube coming out of each bottle. We were each given a double ended tube that comfortably fitted into our nostrils and held over our ears and the idea was we were breathing in through our noses a very high content of Oxygen not dissimilar to the Oxygen one is given in a Hyperbaric Chamber but without the pressure and with an aromatic smell.
The woman to my left had chosen an aroma that had something to do with the Ocean. I chose an Aroma called Sex on the Beach. For more information about this product go to the website www.CasinoPartyProfessionals.com
However the highlight of my day was when I was getting ready to leave the conference. There was a field in front of the Westin Lombard where the conference was being held a demonstration about to start given by Duncan Issacson, Author and father of an Autistic Boy who tells a very inspirational story about how he used horses to help his autistic son.
During the demonstration Rupert told us a little about his son's story and how easily he interacted with a horse and how he lost his attachment to some of his autistic labels that were giving him a hard time. This was a time that Rupert, a keen horse rider had stopped riding horses focusing his energy on helping his son however he could.
However, during the short story he was telling us about his son, he tells a story of how his young son found a way through a fence into his neighbour's paddock and his little boy lay out on his back right underneath a horses nose and amongst a group of young horses that had not been broken into. .
Rupert absolutely in with the events suddenly transpiring certain that if he didn't do something radical where his son lay was about to be trampled.
In particular he was concerned how his son was lying belly up with his arms flaying
With one of the horses towering above his son he thought he had to rush in and somehow save his son.
Now Rupert had been around horses for all of his life so he thought he knew everything there was to know about horses. But what this horse did not only dumbfounded him but astonished him too. It cowered its head in such away to show submission towards his son.
It was then that Rupert became aware of the astonishing relationship horses have with Autistic children and the bond thereafter that would grow that Rupert decided to put all his energies into finding the ideal solution and came up with a the Horse Boy methodology for those children with neurological disorders like Autismdo.
Rupert also expressed his gratitude to Lisa Diersen who I spoke with, owner of the horses that had been brought in for the demonstration. If you have an interest in horses, are interesting in breeding, lessons or training I recommend you visit her website www.theroyallusitano.com or call 1-630- 272-3077
For more information on Rupert's methodology, I suggest you visit http://www.horseboymovie.com/Book.php.
From my perspective what I found interesting was that Rupert was English and he is now living in Texas, probably an ideal place for horses as well as what he is doing. What is also interesting is that he will be shortly talking at the Fortune Centre for Horse Therapy in the middle of the New Forest in Hampshire UK.
During my tour of the interesting people that I shared information with was Melissa Winter, President of The Puzzling Piece as well as being a Mom with an Autistic son for further information about what she does I suggest you visiting her website http://www.thepuzzlingpiece.com/about.html
On the Right-Fit Stand I met with Michele, marketing Director who gave me a book called 101 Games & Activities for Youth with Autism written by Suzanne M Gray whom I am hoping to meet on Sunday.

Just spent a few hours at the Autism One Conference where I saw some of the Exhibitors displaying their research including new and unique ideas as well as really worthwhile healthy products I could identify with.
In particular a lot of emphasis throughout the exhibitor part of the conference was on the importance of correct diet, nutrition and in particular about intestinal flora and if you cannot get this part of your body into healthy shape both your body and mind will suffer in the long term. But there is another side of the coin and that is if you can't get your mind into better shape your body is not going to be able to work at its optimum.
This is where the mind manager at Life Beyond Labels comes into play. Its all about making a deal with yourself that you will do your best to have as much equalibrium in your life, this means having a relationship with labels that have a meaning to you. This way you can see what labels can work for you promoting both healthy labels for mind and body and ultimately leaving a balance where your body and mind can work with each other in harmony to improve the quality of your life.
Some of the things I saw today were new techniques and research, about the benefit of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy illustrating a long list of ailments that it can benefit and about the importance of healthy intestinal flora.
During the conference I am going to be checking out what is new and will keep you all informed of my progress.

Today will be my first day at Autism One, the 2nd day of the conference. I am looking forward to seeing what new techniques support and research is available here in North America. Two days ago I had a very rewarding meeting with Charlie Johnson, Vice President of Pthyperbarics.com manufacturers of Hyperbaric Chambers to learn about their system of portable Hyperbaric Chambers. I had been introduced to Charlie by their European representative, Jeff Brinberg whom I had met at a Business Network Club I regularly attend in London Network Nouveau.
I have seen Hyperbaric's at many of the Autism Conferences I have attended without really knowing how they work but one thing is for sure is that they facilitate the ability for Oxygen passing through the Brain's Blood barrier as well as allowing Oxygen reaching cells at a cellular level to increase the body's ability to heal itself.Hyperbarics can have positive results for those on the Autism Spectrum.
I have also been focusing on my own nutrition and have begun taking a new super fruit that has been reputed to have the highest known content of Vitamin C 50 times more powerful than Oranges. This super fruit is Camu Camu. Camu Camu is reputed to assist with increased brain functioning aiding focus and concentration and may be of benefit to those on the Autism Spectrum as well as those with ADHD.
During the next few weeks I shall be reporting on how I get on with my own Nutrition program and the benefits I obtain from my nutritive diet. I will keep all of you posted.
Of course what helps with anyone who wants to improve their brain power or find remedies to whatever ailments they may have is getting adequate sleep, be well hydrated and stay away from junk food whenever possible.
Staying away from Gluten is known to have benefits for those on the Autism Spectrum. I will continue this blog on my return from today's AutismOne Conference.http://www.lifebeyondlabels.com/index.php?action=labels&label_id=2677
